The Market for Gaming Notebooks Is Becoming Saturated

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

In my opinion gaming notebooks have lost their once maintained niche status. I recall when they were not so widespread. Before the small number of sales countered by the profit margins. I reckon that the majority of people would concur they always desired a laptop for gaming but it was just out of range for the masses. In my perspective they were the best laptop computers available. Even though that was true I think the prices were so costly that we would buy laptops that were not so fast instead. Things appear as it they are set to shift though because now the gaming laptops sector has caught the eye of larger brands.

Competitive pricing strategies are not normal is this market so tier 1 manufacturers would be making tons of cash. Presently the markup on the majority of notebooks are so slim that this presents an excellent opportunity to regain the gross margins. Why would anybody buy laptop computers like this? Well big brands have the marketing spend to educate them on that. This is a giant threat to littler niche resellers. In my opinion the multinational brands will dictate the market direction. I reckon customers would trust the larger brands more if they get something costly.

The notebooks being launched by brand name companies are all competing for the best laptop title. In my point of view the littler system builders must act on this if they’re to be profitable. I can determine the ability of being able to customize the laptop computer to be a fundamental purchasing decision. Consumers that purchase high performance laptop computers will typically see past the gimmicks. For customers of this type, how fast it goes typically is more important than what it looks like.

Surely what’s happening here will benefit people in the long haul. The latest technology will be accessible to the masses when prices are pushed lower. Even though that’s my take on it, its just my point of view and most likely not what will happen. Mobile technology is continuously getting better and the latest laptops will normally be expensive initially. The well known brands have already entered the gaming laptop computers sector so we will have to wait and observe what happens I reckon.

In my view this company http://www.rizeon.com are providing gaming laptops at good prices.

Social Security: It’s More Than Just Retirement Benefits

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Most of us when we hear the term, social security, tend to think of the elderly, or get a brief pre-cognitive flash of the days ahead when we, too, will be “older” and consigned to alloting portions of our days filling prescriptions and playing bingo. And so we should. The U.S. social security program, drafted by the Roosevelt administration and passed by congress as the social security act of 1935, was originally known as the old age pension act.

Brought into existence at a time when the American people were still in the throes of the great depression, the social security act provided retirement benefits to elderly individuals who might otherwise have been forced to rely on the generosity and stability of their immediate and extended family members. It was, essentially, an expression of the belief that the country’s retirement-age workers should not be left to completely fend for themselves. It was, likewise, a reflection of our then-President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, that the American nation was a single entity, bound in both sincerity as well as obligation, to deliver a minimal level of equity to all its citizens.

The social security act provided a safety net for the elderly. And, today, despite decades-long discussions of potential insolvency, it continues to provide this same net. However, it also does quite a bit more. Today, social security covers more than just retirement benefits for individual workers. It allows widows to receive benefits based on the earnings records of deceased spouses and provides survivors benefits for the minor children of deceased parents. And, last but not least, it provides disability benefits.

After the initial passage of the social security act of 1935, the act was later amended to include provisions for providing benefits to injured and sick workers, based on their disability status. Such benefits were covered under title II of the social security act. However, to provide equal and fair consideration to individuals whose condition was such that they were never able to work, or whose condition made it impossible to work long enough to become insured for title II benefits, title 16 benefits were also established. Today, typically, we simply refer to title II benefits as social security disability and title 16 benefits as SSI, or supplemental security income.

Chances are, if you are younger than thirty, you’ve never heard of either social security disability or ssi. However, if you’ve had a friend, acquaintance, or family relation who has become sick or injured and, as a consequence, unable to work, you may be at least a little familiar with the programs and associate them with the broader safety net operated by the social security administration.

The title II and title 16 disability programs administered by the federal government allow individuals who are unable to work the same dignity as retirement-age workers. However, unlike the federal government’s “old age pension”, qualifying for disability benefits requires more than simply calling the local social security office (for information on filing for disability benefits, this faq may be helpful: Answers to disability program questions.

To receive disability benefits, an individual’s medical condition must be evaluated to determine whether or not their condition is truly disabling, and also to determine whether or not their condition will last a minimal length of time. To this end, the social security administration has established a multi-component system to accomodate disability applicants.

How does this system work? In many respects, the system is overly complicated, but it essentially works as follows: an individual who cannnot or who can no longer work simply calls their local social security office, informing them of the desire to pursue disability benefits. Once this request has been made, an appointment is made for the purpose of conducting an interview and application. Once an application has been taken, it is sent to a a state-level agency that specializes in making decisions on such claims. At this agency, a person’s medical records will both be gathered and evaluated. And after the necessary analysis has been conducted, provided that a person meets the social security administration’s standards of eligibility, their claim will be approved and they can then look forward to receiving benefits.

Is the system always this cut and dry? Unfortunately, in many cases, it is not. And, considering how many bureaucratic institutions, including government programs, are run, this is not to be unexpected. Yet, despite this, the title II and title 16 sections of the social security act provide help and needed resources for literally millions of American citizens who are either unable to work or whose condition, starting from an early point in their life, made it quite impossible to ever seek work.

Turkey - Northern Cyprus Water Pipeline by 2012

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

A Multi-million-dollar undersea pipeline to bring water to North Cyprus from Turkey could be up and running by 2012. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said work on the 80km plastic pipeline scheme would start in June 2009. A dam will be created at Alakopur, near Anamur in southern Turkey, to collect water from the Dragon River. Water from it will be pumped to a new dam in North Cyprus by converting the reservoir at Gecitkoy, south of Guzelayali. Selin Mkinci, one of the engineers from Alsim-Alarko working on the project said water would be transferred to a 10,000m3 storage facility through a 21km pipeline in Turkey. Mr Ekinci said then it would be sent along the 80km plastic pipeline submerged 250 metres below the surface of the Mediterranean. The pipeline will be attached to large weights to keep it under water. Mr Ekinci said this was essential because the pipeline would otherwise float. At Guelyali beach, a pumping station will be constructed to send the water to Gecitkoy dam along a 4km pipeline. Mr Ekinci said: “The pumping station will not have a great impact on the beach where it will be constructed, either environmentally or scenically. It will not be a huge construction.” The project, which was signed between Turkish Water Works General Directorate and Alsim-Alarko in 2005, will carry 73 million m3 of water from Turkey each year. About 15 million m3 will be used for drinking water after being purified in a facility that will be constructed near Lefkosa. The remainder will be used to irrigate 7,650 hectares of agricultural land in the Mesaoria plain. The project aims to meet the drinking and irrigation needs of North Cyprus up to the year 2035, when the population of the TRNC is estimated to grow to about 350,000. Orhan Aydeniz, chairman of the Association of Forestation and Prevention of Erosion (Kema), said the project to bring water from Turkey was “very good” However, he also said that it would take at least four years for the project to be completed, and urged the government to take tough measures in order to protect existing resources. There should be a limit on the number of wells opened, he urged. Apart from this, meters should be put on wells to limit the amount used. The municipalities should not plant exotic plants which need a lot of water- they should plant local plants which can withstand drought. In addition, the government should identify those agricultural products that are marketable, and the water should be used on them.

Money Management - The Holy Grail Of Trading

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Money management determines how much to risk on each individual trade. This is a vital element of any trading system - risk too much and the chances of going bust are too high, risk too little and the reward for trading is too low.

The main methods for calculating trade size are:

Fixed Fractional

The number of contracts to trade is determined by a fixed percentage of current equity. As only whole futures contracts can be trade this, effectively, means that the trader uses 1 contract per $x of equity. For example 1 contract per $10,000.

Fixed fractional, however, requires unequal achievement at different contract levels. For 1 contract every $10,000 to move from 1 contract to 2 requires a profit of $10,000 from 1 contract. To move from 10 contracts to 11 still requires $10,000 profit but from 10 contracts. So for smaller account sizes it will take a long time for the money management to actually kick in and for larger account sizes the number of contracts traded will jump wildly around.

Using fixed fractional the number of contracts traded would be calculated as equity/x, where x=dollars per contract ($10,000 in the above example).

Contracts - Equity Required $

1 - 10,000

2 - 20,000

3 - 30,000

4 - 40,000

5 - 50,000

6 - 60,000

Fixed Ratio

Fixed ratio adds a variable to the fixed fractional method.

Fixed ratio adds delta to the calculation. The delta is a factor which is required to move to the next contract level. The lower the delta the more aggressive the money management is.

The formula is:

equity required to trade previous contract size + (number of contracts x delta) = Next level.

Eg starting with a base of $10,000 for 1 contract and a delta of $5,000:

Contracts - Equity Required $

1 - 10,000

2 - 15,000

3 - 25,000

4 - 40,000

5 - 60,000

6 - 85,000

Comparing the above table to that for fixed fractional it can be seen that at the lower account levels less equity is required whereas as the account grows the number of contracts traded becomes less aggressive.

The Cost of Competition on Kids

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

The subject of competition is one that provokes some pretty strong feelings in the United States. In fact, even hinting that competition might not be such a great thing can cause one to be labeled un-American.

The prevailing belief is that competition is good for everyone - that someone without a strong competitive nature is just a wimp. That being competitive is human nature and to be noncompetitive is to have been born without a necessary gene.

But is it human nature, or is it learned behavior? The research shows that, given a choice, most preschoolers prefer cooperative to competitive activities. This would seem to indicate that dog-eat-dog is not a natural inclination. And in a New York Times essay, Nicholas Kristof told a hilarious story about trying to teach the game of musical chairs to a group of five-year-old Japanese children, who kept politely stepping out of the way so others could sit in their chairs. This would certainly seem to indicate “dog-eat-dog” is taught in some societies - and not taught in others.

In America we play musical chairs in child-care centers, during play dates, and at almost every preschooler’s birthday party. The rules say that a chair is removed with every round - and one more child gets to sit against the wall and watch everybody else continue to have fun. The game is over when there remains one winner - and lots of losers.

In case you don’t recall from your own childhood (or maybe you were always the one winner among many losers), being eliminated feels lousy, as does feeling like a loser. And those other kids you’re playing with? For the duration of the game they’re not your friends; they’re what’s standing in your way. Children only have to play this game once to know that, if they’re not going to be labeled losers, they have to do whatever it takes to win. And we’ve all seen what that means: punching, poking, kicking, scratching, screaming, and shoving. It’s no wonder the research shows that competition fosters antisocial behaviors.

When parents consistently place their children in situations where winning is the ultimate goal - where the winners are considered heroes and the losers “losers” - winning is what they come to value. They learn that only the end result counts, not the process involved in getting there. Further, when parents themselves fail to conduct themselves with character, their actions speak much louder than any words preached about good sportsmanship and the value of teamwork and cooperation.
While the goal of many parents is to give their children a running start on the development of sports skills (because success in sports certainly must equal success in life!), the research shows that competition is actually detrimental to skill development. One reason is fear of failure and its resulting stress, which isn’t conducive to either learning or performance. Young children, in particular, are susceptible to this problem because pleasing their parents means so much to them. And when their parents focus on winning - either through action (screaming on the sidelines) or words (asking “Who won?” instead of “Did you have fun?”) - winning becomes the children’s goal as well.

Of course, you may think the goal of winning would be enough to propel children into performing their best. But young children aren’t cognitively ready to make that connection. They attribute winning or losing to ability, not effort. Nor are they emotionally ready to handle the pressure of playing mistake-free games. And they’re not physically ready to play without making mistakes!

Finally, when product (winning) is emphasized over process (making an effort), extrinsic reward is granted more validity than intrinsic reward. As a result, trophies and championships become the whole point of participation. And while this may not seem like such a bad thing in a goal-oriented society, we’re back to the issue of the young child’s stage of development. Children under the age of eight are motivated by pleasure. And, yes, winning feels good when everyone around you is making a big deal out of it. But does that feeling last? And what about the children who aren’t winning?

Dare I say it? Winning isn’t everything. And if we want our children to grow up to be self-assured, character-driven adults - who also happen to have positive feelings about physical activity - then it really shouldn’t be.

Get a new home with easy loan, 185389 euro in 48 hours

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 7 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 8 percent offered by competitors will change.

Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 4 percent. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 7 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 5 percentage.

Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 4 percent. Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Different lenders charge different fees. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 10 percent. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. See which lenders are charging fees 7 percent and for how much. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 5 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged.

Mesothelioma - The 3 Main Types

Friday, August 1st, 2008

In general, mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer. Different types of mesothelioma are distinguished between by where the cancer is growing. Pleural mesothelioma, the most common, accounting for 75% of all mesothelioma cases, is where cancerous cells develop on the lining of the lungs. The next most common form of mesothelioma is peritoneal mesothelioma and this is where cancerous cells grow on the peritoneum which is the lining of the abdomen. Pericardial mesothelioma, the least common major form of mesothelioma, makes up roughly 5% of all mesothelioma cases. This is where malignant cancer cells grow on the lining of the heart.

All three of these forms of mesothelioma are caused by asbestos. Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous mineral that was discovered around the 1860s. Due to its highly useful property of being fireproof, asbestos was used greatly in construction in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. It was not until the early 1960s when the severe health hazards that asbestos causes were discovered, that asbestos stopped being used. When exposed to asbestos with insufficient protection a person will breathe in tiny asbestos fibres which are suspended in the air. These fibres pass into the respiratory system until they become lodged in the lining of the lungs. Over time, an accumulation of these asbestos fibres in the lungs can cause pleural mesothelioma. Asbestos fibres may also pass into the lymphatic system and be transported to either the lining of the abdomen or the tissue surrounding the heart. This may cause either peritoneal mesothelioma or pericardial mesothelioma.

In terms of symptoms, the three main types of mesothelioma have some symptoms in common with each other. These symptoms are usual of all three types: chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, coughing up blood, vomiting, nausea, weight loss and loss of appetite. An additional symptom of pericardial mesothelioma is palpitations.

There are a few treatments for all types of mesothelioma but none of these have a high success rate. The effectiveness of the treatment depends on how early and how aggressively the cancer is treated. If the cancerous cells are treated when they have fully matured and developed then it is unlikely that treatment methods will be successful. Treatment methods include chemotherapy which is the use of drugs to kill the cancer, radiation therapy which uses a radiation dosage to kill off cancerous cells and surgery which attempts to gain long term control over the cancer by removing a large portion of malignant cells. These treatment methods can be combined in the form of dual therapy.

The Thriving Cosmopolitan Property Markets — Simplified by The PropertyIndex.com Company

Friday, August 1st, 2008

PropertyIndex.com make it easy to find property in Portugal, whether you are looking for a villa or an apartment, they can help you find the right property.

Notwithstanding Property Index is really a newcomer firm, doing business since March 2007, they were fast to establish expert reputation. De facto, they are a unbelievably unceremonious firm focused on catering to every visitor who is dedicated to let, sell, rent, etc. property in most areas of the world. Their pledge is to offer you assistance to spot just what’s desired fast plus sans hassle. Realty can be located everwhere at present, one of the most exclusive areas being property available in Portugal. It should be easy as falling off a log to pinpoint all the fun land you can purchase in Portugal, the argument for hunting for property here is a combination of the houses and apartments on the market and the option of living together with this lively, enthusiastic and great people.

It’s one of the most trendy regions at present, and with the gorgeous landscape and great weather surrounding you, how could you be wrong. Realty in Portugal is steeped in history, art and culture, this part of the world has always been home to numerous nations. Around 30 years back there’d be merely a tiny number of English people looking for land in Portugal. Just ask everyone who has relocated to Portugal and they’ll be sure to substantiate this. Some people would descry it as a craze and others descry it as a almost a compulsion. People willing to migrate to this place extend from young families in search of a bit of a new challenge in life to older generations meaning to enjoy themselves and have a break.

Note that you may have to wrestle with a few unmanageables when buying land abroad: expectably there’ll be a million differentiated, frequently conflicting, procedures when planning, popping in or finalizing the deal. If you miss out on one single minute step it is certain to bring about wide-reaching unmanageables as well as, more importantly, a failed investment. As you’re sure to expect with this trendy place, land may well be high-priced in this location and that is basically a consequence of the wide spread market demand. Nevertheless patrons actually are pretty spoilt in a place so richly blessed by terrific terrain and shining surroundings. It’s able to offer the lot you could long for, and then some.
